Most of our clients fully recognise the benefits of blogging but they struggle to know what to write about and how frequently they should be posting them. There’s also the common issue of writer’s block. We understand the stress of spending days and weeks, feeling unsure as to what to write about or where to start from, and ensuring there is a properly planned and well-balanced mix of content all the while not writing or posting any content.
Even if you are a natural communicator it can often be tricky to know what to write when creating blog posts. It can be tricky to even get off the starting block which means it often gets left not done.
We have put together some helpful tips to getting started, frequency for posts and most usefully, 30 templates to hopefully inspire you to get pen to paper (well, fingers to keyboard) and get blog posting regularly.
Where should I start?
Generally, a good approach is to listen to your peers and audience. Consider the most regularly asked queries and questions, and commonly raised conversation topics. Simple thought-pieces can be interspersed with ‘how-to’ guides and interpretations of current policy, or your own response to high-profile changes in your sector.
How often should I post?
Frequency.
There is no hard and fast rule on how often to post, but frequency is important. If you post too often, you risk irritating or boring your audience, whereas if you post too infrequently you could slip off their radar.
Consistency.
Consistency is also key, as you will set an expected level of output and your prospects will look forward to receiving your social media posts frequency. Try to maintain a routine when posting your content to keep them consistent.
Quality.
With the above points in mind, post only as regularly as you can maintain the highest level of quality. If the quality of your content dips, consider whether you are putting pressure on yourself to produce blogs too often. If you feel a blog you have written is of sub-par standard don’t post it but instead come back to it at a later date, with fresh eyes, to improve it.
